Glandular Therapy
Glands are organs that secrete substances which produce a physiological response. They need nutritional support like other tissues. Exocrine glands secrete onto the skin or mucous membranes. Endocrine glands secrete substances whose functions are within the body e.g. insulin. The endocrine system is involved with metabolism, circulation, water balance, growth, tissue repair, maturity, immunity, reproduction, nutrient metabolism and a lot more. Raw glandulars are tissue concentrates from animal glands and organs. They “feed” organs and glands. Raw glands also contain “protomorphogens”. These are compounds found within the cell’s nucleus. Research indicates that these compounds are similar in different species of animals. When an individual develops an auto-immune disorder, it usually forms antibodies to its own nuclear material. By putting protomorphogens into the system, the antibodies “attack” them instead of the animal’s own tissue. By distracting the immune response, the gland or organ is given time to heal. This is one reason why raw thyroid supplement is beneficial in many thyroid conditions. Raw glandulars also contain beneficial nutrients e.g. fatty acids, lipoproteins, enzymes, etc. Look for supplements from antibiotic and hormone free animals processed at low temperature to preserve fragile nutrients. Following are some suggestions, however, carnivores should get a mix of glandulars as a regular part of their diet.
* Adrenal - allergies, chronic stress/illness, low blood sugar, frequent infections
* Brain - epilepsy, behavioral problems, nerve problems
* Heart - cardiomyopathy and other heart problems
* Kidney - kidney dysfunctions
* Liver - liver problems, anemia, diabetes, low blood sugar, debilitation, general health
* Spleen - poor immune function, chronic infections, tumors, poor digestion
* Thymus - poor immune function, chronic infections, tumors, mange
* Thyroid - improper thyroid function
* Ovary and Uterus combination - Urinary incontinence in spayed female dogs
* Duodenum, Stomach, Intestines - digestive problems
* Lung - Respiratory problems
* Pancreas - pancreatitis, diabetes, digestive problems
